Nha Trang, Vietnam – The 84th Steering Committee Meeting (SCM) of the Coordinating Committee for Geoscience Programs in East and Southeast Asia (CCOP) took place in Nha Trang, Vietnam, from 3 – 6 March 2025. The meeting was attended by representatives, including the IGTL and ANM, and provided an opportunity to discuss various aspects of CCOP’s role in advancing geoscience both regionally and globally.
The meeting also marked the appointment of Mr. MA Yongzheng as the new Technical Director of CCOP. Mr. MA is the Deputy Director General of the Department of Science and Technology & International Cooperation at the China Geological Survey. The committee expressed its appreciation for the leadership and contributions of the former Technical Director, Dr. Young Joo Lee. Under his guidance, CCOP has made significant strides in expanding its influence and advancing geoscience efforts in the region.
As the meeting concluded, CCOP member countries reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening collaborative efforts in geoscience, both within the East and Southeast Asia regions and on a global scale.
