Dili, September 10, 2025, Deputy Prosecutor General Dr. Pascásio de R. Alves accompanied by prosecutors Dr. Alfeu da C. Moreira and Dr. Claudino do Rosário who represent the Prosecutor General of the Republic Dr. Nelson de Carvalho, has received a request to hold a meeting with the National Authority for Minerals, Public Institute (ANM, I.P). The purpose of this meeting was to discuss the mechanisms for implementing administrative sanctions and legal processes in the mining sector. ANM hopes that this meeting will help them better understand all legal processes within the prosecutor's office. The meeting was held in the prosecutor's office meeting room, Kolmera.
Apart from that, from this meeting, the ANM hopes to obtain information and clarification from the prosecutor's office regarding the process of submitting matters related to administrative sanctions from the ANM to the prosecutor's office, and also discussed the coordination mechanism for implementing judicial processes before the ANM submitted a Decree-Law to the Council of Ministers.
At the meeting, the Deputy Prosecutor General stated that the existing Decree-Law could be submitted to the Council of Ministers and, if approved, could be implemented immediately. And before ending this meeting, the Deputy Prosecutor General suggested that in the future the two institutions could create a cooperation protocol so that it could facilitate and assist in submitting cases to court.
