ANM as the Regulatory Authority for mining sector across the Territory of Timor-Leste, officially granted an Exploration and Evaluation License to the State-Owned Company, Murak Rai Timor (MRT, E.P.) for Concession Area MEL2025-DA-IM-FAHILEBO-004 located in the municipalities of Liquiça and Ermera. The License issuance is based on the requirements contemplated in Law No.12/2021, 30 June on the Mining Code.
In the Municipality of Liquiça covers the Administrative Post of Bazartete, Suku Fahilebo, Leorema and Ulmera, and Ermera covers the Administrative Post of Railaco, Suku Fatuquero, Liho, Matata and Tocoluli, and the Administrative Post of Ermera, Suku Poetete.
The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Mr. Francisco da Costa Monteiro, President of Murak Rai Timor, E.P. Mr. José Gonçalves, President of ANM, Mr. Rafael de Araújo, including the participation of the President of Liquiça and Ermera Municipalities, Veterans, Suku Council, and maximum participation from the community and relevant entities such as CCI-TL, Engineering Students Club of Liquiç and Ermera as well as Media.
The Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources in his intervention expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the tutelage institutions such as ANM I.P and MRT, E.P for their collaboration to realize the work program of the IX Constitutional Government to help reduce the export of some construction materials from abroad; also appealed to MRT, E.P to work hard and follow the procedures established to move to the development phase, and also suggested to look into the potentials of other non-metallic minerals to build domestic industries in the future.
