Dili, 24 September 2024 — The Autoridade Nacional dos Minerais, I.P. (ANM) in collaboration with Austrade successfully hosted a webinar focused on exploring the rich mineral potential of Timor-Leste. This virtual event, held at the ANM Office, brought together key stakeholders from the industry, government, and international community.

The webinar commenced with opening remarks from His Excellency Francisco da Costa Monteiro, Minister for Petroleum and Mineral Resources of Timor-Leste, who highlighted the government's commitment to fostering a conducive environment for mineral exploration and investment in the country. His remarks underscored the strategic importance of the minerals sector to Timor-Leste's economic development.

Ms. Caitlin Wilson, Ambassador of Australia to Timor-Leste in her opening remarks, emphasised the strong relationship between Australia and Timor-Leste. She reiterated Australia's support for Timor-Leste’s aspirations to develop its mineral resources sustainably and welcomed collaboration between Australia and Timor-Leste in this important new industry in Timor-Leste.

The keynote presentation was delivered by Mr. Rafael de Araújo, President of ANM, who provided an in-depth exploration of Timor-Leste’s mineral prospects. His presentation detailed the current state of the sector, investment opportunities, and the regulatory framework designed to ensure responsible and profitable exploitation of the nation's mineral resources.

The one-hour webinar facilitated a dynamic discussion on the future of the minerals industry in Timor-Leste, attracting participation from a diverse audience, including industry experts and investors.
